Who Are We?

Approved Door Consultancy has been formed by two individuals, Mike & Lee. Between us we have a wealth of experience within the construction industry but also a passion when it comes to doors & door systems. Among the many services we offer, we are qualified and accredited fire door surveyors in Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and throughout the UK.

Between us we have had in-depth experience of contracting for some of the largest construction companies in the UK along with directly employed works for the NHS, other privately owned healthcare & mental healthcare providers, various education providers and much more.

We have an interest in making sure doors operate in a way that enhances and improves the way a building operates, along with how a building can improve the outcomes for its occupants, while also enhancing safety and security by limiting risk. This may mean reducing known risk factors, improving specification & design or assessing and providing a measured approach to fire compliance and safety.

We consider the day-to-day use of any building or facility looking at key factors such as DDA regulations, door finishes, door robustness, ligature & door weaponization risk, security & safety of building users, fire risk & over all service life, quality and even means of providing suitable installation based on specific needs.

Our approach to consulting & offering our knowledge & services has evolved from years spent within the construction and building maintenance industry. Having previously operated as a certified provider of Manufactured fire doors & specialist doorsets, along with providing joinery services, Certified Fire doorset installations & repairs, covering sectors such as Healthcare, mental Healthcare, education, retail and leisure, we have not only experienced, but navigated a wide range of issues within each sector. This has encouraged us to adopt a proactive, problem-solving approach to everything we do.

This in-depth knowledge and considered approach even extends to the installation of doors. A doorset could be fantastically engineered, manufactured to the greatest quality and attention to detail, however if the doorset isn’t installed well or correctly it may not perform as intended, resulting in an increased risk from fire, smoke, security, ligature or any other risks.

We understand how fantastic products can be frequently let down by poor quality installation or a lack of understanding of specific product needs. This may be as simple as using the incorrect or non-tested fire stopping product to seal the doorset to the buildings structure, for example. Our involvement can investigate this along with a number of other key factors that must be considered to ensure compatibility & overall compliance and performance.
